About
A Fresno native, Barry attended Bullard High School, CSU Fresno and the Mennonite Brethren Seminary. During his years at CSU Fresno where he majored in Communication he worked at Northwest Church. During and after he completed his seminary studies with a Masters Degree in Theology, Barry worked at New Harvest Church in Clovis as the Pastor of Emerging Generations.
After ten years in church ministry, Barry has now refocused his efforts to working on the community needs of Fresno. Passionate about our area & about impacting social issues like poverty, economic development & the local brain drain; he is also particularly sensitive to the needs of families with small children. Barry became the President/CEO of Rotary Storyland & Playland in Roeding Park in February of 2006. Taking on the challenge of operating Storyland & Playland, Barry has been able to blend his passion to serve the community, with his educational and organizational experience in operating non-profit organizations.
As of late, there has been a surge in the beloved Central California parks. In the past three years there has been a rise in attendance, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in new capital improvements completed. Barry has worked hard over the past three
years to create a dynamic team that he credits for much of the parks success. Barry also has developed a passion for guest service. A new focus on world-class guest service at Rotary Storyland & Playland has been a driving factor that has created more repeat business than anytime in previous years. Barry is a graduate of the Disney Institute in Orlando, Florida, a member of the Rotary club of Fresno and member of Leadership Fresno.
His wife, Erin, also a Fresno native, teaches elementary school in Madera and they have a five-year-old son (Rowan) and a three-year-old daughter (Kaelyn) that surprise them more and more each day. He enjoys music, spending time with good friends and an occasional round of golf.
