A Quick Trip To San Francisco
Every once in a while I like to travel. Well okay, I love to travel. This weekend Erin and I were able to take a quick trip to San Francisco and we had a really great time.
On the way up we stopped in Hilmar California. Hilmar, is where both of my parents grew up and where my grandparents still live. My grandfather (Papa) had open heart surgery last week and it was really great to stop in for a brief visit. Erin and I were both amazed at how well he looked considering surgery was just a week prior to our visit.
While in Hilmar, we stopped at the Hilmar Cheese Visitor Center & Cafe. Hilmar Cheese company annually produces more cheese from one site than any other manufacturer in the world. We had a very nice lunch there and I was amazed at how much the place had grown. If you are ever in between Merced & Modesto and ready for lunch, drive west a bit to Hilmar and have lunch at the Hilmar Cheese Visitor Center, I promise it will be worth it.
After lunch it was off to San Francisco. In the city, we stayed at The Donatello which is right near Union Square. We had dinner at Fino Ristorante, a small Italian restaurant which was excellent and then we were off to the Orpheum Theatre to see Wicked. The musical was really amazing and if you have not had a chance to see it and are able to do so I would really recommend it.
I have learned that these times are important for me. Getting away from time to time and recharging my batteries helps me to prepare for what is ahead and helps me to process what is happening in the present. Sometimes these times of retreat do not happen at the most convenient times. Let’s face it, sometimes there is never a great time to get away but they are very important to me still. It was a quick trip, just a little more than 30 hours but for Erin and I it was well worth it.
